What the health check covers

The score rolls up findings from eight deterministic detector categories: bank feed status, uncategorized transactions, duplicates, chart of accounts, reconciliation gaps, balance sheet anomalies, A/R and A/P aging, and owner-related transactions. Each finding carries a severity level (CRITICAL, HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW), and the health score is the weighted summary across all categories.

The detectors are pure code, not AI guesses; they run the same way every time and you can audit them. An AI validation layer reviews findings for obvious false positives and generates a contextual narrative summary. The health score itself is a deterministic function of the findings.

How to read the score

The score is a one-sentence judgment you can quote internally or to a client. A file in the 80s is in fair shape with minor cleanup needed; a file in the 50s has structural problems that should be addressed before tax filing; a file in the 30s usually means reconstruction, not cleanup. The category-level breakdown shows which detector fired and why, with severity-weighted contribution.

Bookkeepers use the score in three ways: as a triage signal to decide whether a file is a cleanup or a reconstruction, as a defensible input to the hour estimate for the engagement, and as a before-and-after measurement when the cleanup is done.

The health check works from standard exports (Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet, A/R aging, A/P aging, banking detail, transaction lists), so it runs at the prospect stage before you have OAuth access, as well as during execution and at the QC step at the end of the cleanup.
